Huckabee as voice of devout Americans           381  Views

The pundits were surprised Tuesday night as Mike Huckabee came through victorious in state after state. So what is Gov. Huckabee's appeal to these devout Americans?

I think it is pretty simple - he talks about the relationship between the individual and the government. He talks about basic political philosophy that is the core of America. And he does it in a simple way, laced with humor. It is this basic core thinking that people buy into.

Interesting is it not, that these devout Americans are not concerned about whether their government will give them jobs or healthcare? That they will do for themselves. They want to make sure their government will indeed follow the original contract it had with the people - to protect  (not provide). And follow certain basic tenets of beliefs that form the moral core of the people who set up the government in the first place. After that, please get out of the way.

The pundits are used to candidates who go around promising what they will provide their voters, if they are elected. Mike Huckabee talks about responsibilities of all of us as individuals. Something not heard since JFK? Certainly not something heard from Obama, who talks unity but not individual responsibility.

I think Mike Huckabee will be there representing devout Americans throughout this election. He will be their voice and it will be heard!
