Now that we have mentors and facilitators starting their own programs in New Jersey and welcoming new members at their tables, we thought wed start creating our periodic e-news announcing new meetings, sharing member stories and our latest cartoons.
The
Suppers Programs table-based support groups help people with health problems related to diet and lifestyle lead healthier lives. This includes people with depression, anxiety, learning issues, obesity, diabetes, and problems with alcohol.
My personal and professional interests are the health and well being of children and adults, whom I seek to serve by sustaining a grass roots movement to help people become aware of environmental health and connect with nature and their food sources through the growing, preparation, and eating of wholesome foods.
Welcome to Suppers!
Do you actually need scientific studies to confirm that how you feel is an indication of whats going on in your body? If you begin to understand the language your body is speaking, you can do plenty about it to
reverse the symptoms. Just as Lisa did. Heres an excerpt from her story,
Marshmallow Madness:"The doctor and a cardiologist did some tests EKG, stress echocardiogram, thyroid and confirmed the palpitations and an underlying heart arrhythmia, but could not determine a cause. They said the arrhythmia was not life-threatening, and prescribed beta blockers.
Im a single parent and this just wasnt good enough for meSo I turned to the internet and did a simple search on "heart palpitations." The first results I checked listed three causes and one of those was glucose. This rang a bell because I've always had a feeling I was sensitive to sugar. If I eat a donut in the morning for breakfast, I have brain fog the entire day. So I decided to do my own test and stop eating sugar and starch. And although I had a lot to learn, I began to feel better"

The Suppers Program www.SuppersFor.org is a not for profit organization that offers people support groups where they can make good matches between health problems and lifestyle solutions. These might include switching to healthier versions of favorite snacks, using whole foods and sometimes supplements to reduce cravings, eating regularly at the family table, or working on supportive relationships.
